Between Драговим and Уголькою, right on the edge of the primeval forest Уголька-Широкий Луг, there are still the last remnants of ancient forest pastures - pastures under old oaks and beeches. This is a unique cultural landscape system that our ancestors created over the centuries.

Now these areas are overgrown with ferns and blackberries. Without regular grazing, fires, slope erosion and old oak trees die. Such places UNESCO provided as a transition zone of the biosphere reserve — the territory, where man and nature work together.
We have already started to realize this dream. Together with local entrepreneurs, they were brought here 85 heads of gray steppe cattle. We are also planning Carpathian buffaloes, horses, sheep and cattle local villagers. We are building infrastructure and want to create a joint cooperation to produce quality meat and cheese under the brand - Old World Farming.

This project benefits everyone: nature gets protection, local people get work and a decent income, and the Carpathian Biosphere Reserve is a living example of real Transition Zone.
